Shandong Luneng Taishan Football Club was initiated and established by the enterprises of Shandong Electric Power Group .Luneng Group and 11 legal persons on January 5 , 1998. It subordinates Shandong Luneng Taishan Football Team (whose predecessor is Shandong Football Team ) and Luneng Taishan Advertising Agency, Luneng Taishan Football school, holding-operating Shandong Luneng Taishan Development.

　　The paid-in capital of the club is 47,360,000 yuan at present. Total assets are 800 million yuan. Owner's rights and interests are 880 million yuan. The total occupation of land of Jinan base and Weifang base (Luneng Football School) of the club is up to 43.333 hectares, which have 32 pieces of court of different kinds. The whole area of buildings is more than 83,000 square meters. The club stays in the south of Jinan city with a position advantage, There are 4 pieces of training court with standard lawn, one of which is reconstructed into a floodlit field according with the demands of training and competition at night. There is a gymnasium, a sauna, a medical massage parlour, a canteen, a multi-functional room , a reading room, a training service building and a glory exhibition room, etc. complete facilities, which have offered life, sick and wounded recovery, rear-service ensurance and amusement conditions for the team. The Weifang base has 24 pieces of training court of different kinds, such facilities as teaching buildings , a training centre , a medical centre, etc., and a cultural square with the characteristic of Luneng's culture has been built.

　　In the past few years, Shandong Luneng Taishan Team became a strong team which enjoyed great prestige in the Chinese football circle, obtained two champions of the National Serie A League matches and the Football Association Cup matchs in 1999, became the first " Champion of Two Titles " in China's football history, which has inspired the spirit of the people of the whole province greatly, has moulded the famous "Luneng's Spirit". The Club engaged famous coachs such as Nintaus of S. Korea , Santrach of Yugoslavia , etc. to serve as chief coach of the team successively; sent more than 20 team members for the national team, 31 team members for the national youth and teenage teams at all levels. Among them Li Xiaopeng , Su Maozhen , Gao Yao have participated in the matches of the final period of World Cup of 2002. Luneng Taishan Football Club is one of the Chinese clubs which send most team members to the national team.

　　Since Shandong Electric Power Group , Lueng Group took over Shandong Football Team and established Luneng Taishan Football Club, they fixed the strategic objective of building a century-old club, took charge of inside management , infrastructure construction and reserve team training work severely, have obtained excellent achievements. The club has developed and run the auxiliary facility commercial real estate project of Asia Cup --Luneng Taishan Square. 　　The club has a complete reserve teams' organizational system and rich reserve strength, the 2nd, 3rd , 4th , 5th and 6th teams (27 teams in all) study and train in Weifang Base altogether. The reserve teams of each rank successively obtained all kinds of match champions of teenagers nearly 20 times in the whole country. The club invited Serbia-Black Hills coach 弗兰多 to serve as general coach, moulded a cultivation idea of " Being a man, being a football star. ", are regarded culture and sports equally, insisted on the open cultivation of " going out and inviting in ", formed partnerships with the teenagers cultavition organizations of such countries as S. Korea , Italy , Britain , Holland ,etc.. At the beginning of 2001, the club confirmed the goal that Luneng Weifang Base would be established into Chinese teenagers football talents' training base. Through a few years' efforts, Weifang Base of Luneng Taishan Football Club has already become another important window showing the image of Shandong, has established the good image at home and abroad. Chinese Football Association named Luneng Taishan Football Club Weifang Training Base as " Chinese Football Teenagers' Training Base ".
